For Extension Technicians/Salons
· As stated in our terms and conditions it is recommended that your clients follow a thorough aftercare routine and use of Lush-Us Uk aftercare products to keep their Lush-Us Uk hair extensions in the best possible condition. In the event of a Quality Enquiry only hair that has had Lush-Us UK aftercare products used on it would be tested. It is advisable to ensure that ALL clients sign a consultation form which states that you have advised and offered them the correct aftercare advice and products. We are very aware that when using Lush-Us Uk aftercare, which is specifically formulated for our Indian Remy Hair extensions your clients should not experience any problems with matting/shedding/softening bonds.
· You and your client should be advised not to colour the hair extensions as this may alter their condition and would also waiver your rights of refunds/replacements in the event of a Quality Enquiry.
· Non specific hair products are simply too heavy for hair extensions and the unsuitable ingredients may cause them to “fluff up”, matt and soften bonds.
· Blow drying and straightening also seals the cuticle on hair extensions and should be done thoroughly. Non professionals may not be able to blow dry their extensions in the same way a hairdresser would. They should be advised to section down to 2-3 rows of extensions when drying and ensure they are dried fully. (Extensions sometimes feel dry to the touch but then require additional drying to prevent “fluffing up”). Heat protection should be used at all times and straightening (with the correct heat protection products) improves the look of straight extensions.
· Before going to bed, any styling and/or products should be combed gently out the hair. It is common for clients not to do so to then be concerned that their extensions have matted. They should be advised to comb through, using a detangling spray if required. Follow the washing and revitalising process with a thorough blow dry to return the extensions to their previous condition.
Extensions wearers
You should always use Lush-Us Uk aftercare products on your Lush-Us Uk hair extensions as they are lightweight and formulated for hair extensions.
· Brushing – using a hair extension brush gently start at the bottom of your extension working your way upwards to tease out any tangles. Hold your hair near the bonds so you do not pull them.
· Shampooing – brush hair through first. Gently smooth the shampoo through your own hair and the extension hair using your fingers. Do not SCRUB as this will cause the hair to tangle and matt. Rinse well.
· Conditioner – again, simply run this through the extensions – do not get it on the bonds as this will cause them to soften and slip out. Rinse well.
· Revitaliser – This should be use 1-2 times a week. After shampooing and conditioning, place a coin size amount on the lengths of your extensions and leave for 10 minutes before rinsing well. Although extension hair is human hair, it is dead and once removed from the donor cannot receive the nutrients it requires to continue looking healthy, so this product is VITAL!!
· Protein Spray – Spray liberally on wet or dry hair to ensure your hair extensions receive the correct nutrients.
· Thermal Extension Protection – This should be sprayed on the extension hair EVERY time you are going to use heat from blow drying or styling. Heat dries hair out so if this product is not used your hair extensions will have heat damage which could make the extensions look frizzy at the ends.
· Drying hair extensions takes time. To create a nice sleek look you should section your hair down to 2-3 rows at a time, apply thermal heat protection. Dry on a low heat setting near the bond area.
· Once they feel dry, dry them some more to ensure they are fully dry!!
· To straighten, again section down to 2-3 rows, spray with
Do not wash extensions any sooner than 24 hours after application as the glue continues to harden.
If moisture of any kind gets into the bonds this can cause the bonds to start breaking down and eventually slip out or split.
Always Brush Extensions BEFORE washing to detangle to prevent further tangling/matting,extension hair tangles very easily so start the washing process with detangled hair.
When brushing your hair use a brush designed for hair extensions and gently brush from the bottom working your way up holding the roots of your hair at all times, excessive tugging at hair when brushing can cause damage to your bonds.
Avoid getting a build-up of products on the hair as it can cause the bonds to slip and also make the hair look dull.
Wash your hair gently, in a smoothing rather than a scrubbing motion to avoid matting the hair.
When using conditioner tie your extensions in a low ponytail and use your bobble as aguideline. Do not go higher than the bobble as if conditioner gets onto the bonds it will cause them to weaken and possibly come out.
Extension hair, although human, is dead hair and needs revitalising with specialist products to ensure the hair looks and feels silky. It is vital that this is done once a week at least.Once the hair is removed from the donors head it is not receiving the nutrients it requires so it is the client’s responsibility to “feed” the hair.
It is vital to only use products specifically designed for your brand of hair extensions as products for natural hair contain silicone coatings and oils which are too heavy for extension hair and WILL destroy the appearance of your hair extensions.Non specific hair extension products prevent the cuticles from closing which will make the hair extensions look “fluffed up” or “”bushy” in apprearance.
Do not leave hair to dry naturally as the moisture will soften your bonds causing them to come out, it will also create “fluffing up” of the extensions. Heat seals the cuticle on the extension hair creating a nice sleek look, so extensions should be blow dried then straightened as necessary (using a thermal heat protector designed for extensions) to ensure a sleek appearance.
Always use a low heat setting on your hairdryer when blow-drying near the roots to avoid over heating the bonds, heat will cause the glue to soften and the bonds may then slip and come out.
Regularly separate your bonds as the hairs that would naturally shed on a daily basis can get trapped in the extension bonds, these will then matt and form a dreadlock, which can cause tension on the natural hair
Always be careful with hair straighteners as they can melt the bond if you get too close. Always use a heat protector spray designed for extensions hair
When playing sports or going to bed tie in a loose pony tail or plait to avoid matting
It is normal for your extension hair to shed but if this becomes severe you must re-read your aftercare instructions as this will be due to softening bonds
Do not PICK at your bonds and have them removed by a professional. If you pick at the bonds you risk snapping your own natural hair.
